Dr. Shane Smith is a primary faculty member in the Physician Assistant (PA) program at Milligan University, with a focus on trauma surgery and critical care medicine. He has been recognized for his contributions to healthcare, receiving the Tri-Cities Healthcare Hero award in 2023 and the Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants’ PA Educator of the Year award for 2023.

Outside of his professional work, Shane and his wife are active members of Jonesborough United Methodist Church in Jonesborough, where they serve as volunteers for liturgist and participate on various church committees.

Shane values the close-knit community at Milligan, particularly within the PA program, where the small class sizes allow for strong relationships and a collaborative learning environment.
