Dr. Gregory Harrell is the Chair and Director of Engineering Programs, a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and the Capstone Design Project Technical Expert at Milligan University. With extensive expertise in energy-intensive heavy industry, industrial energy systems, and power generation, his work spans boilers and steam systems, combined heat and power systems, gas turbines, refrigeration systems, and more.

Dr. Harrell brings over 20 years of experience as the founder and operator of a global consulting firm serving energy-intensive industries, completing projects across six continents, 30 countries, and 42 U.S. states. He is a recognized leader in his field, serving as the Lead Developer and Advisor for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Cogeneration System Assessments and as a UNIDO Lead Expert.

His contributions include the development of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Steam and Steam Specialist Training and its accompanying BestPractices Steam Tools. He authored several influential industry publications, including the Steam System Survey Guide, the Boiler Tune-Up Guide, the ASME Energy Assessment for Steam Systems Standard, and related guidance documents. His work has advanced global energy systems practices and training.
