Ashleigh Lingerfelt

Area Chair and Program Director; Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy

Dr. Ashleigh Lingerfelt is the Area Chair and Program Director of Occupational Therapy and an Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy at Milligan University. Her primary responsibilities include teaching courses such as OT with Children and Youth, OT in Women’s Health, Splinting, and supervising research and students at local community sites.

Dr. Lingerfelt’s areas of expertise include pediatric and geriatric occupational therapy, early intervention therapy services, autism, kinesiology taping, women’s health, splinting, and manual lymph drainage. She was recognized as a 2024 Healthcare Hero by the Business Journal of the Tri-Cities Tennessee/Virginia.

One of her most rewarding roles is supervising students as they provide free occupational therapy services at local community sites, including Brother’s Keeper, Dawn of Hope, Crumley House, and Jeremiah School. Dr. Lingerfelt cherishes taking students into the community each semester, which she describes as her favorite part of the week.

In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Lingerfelt is an active member of Strong Tower Baptist Church, where she serves as the choir director and participates in the worship team as a singer and instrumentalist. She also contributes to the Easter Drama ministry, performing in annual public depictions of the life and death of Christ, and serves alongside her husband as a Prayer Connect Leader for Sunday School.

Dr. Lingerfelt’s professional experience includes providing occupational therapy services in skilled nursing facilities, adult and pediatric outpatient facilities, and private practice.
