Professor McInturff studied saxophone and music education at Tennessee Technological University, where she performed in various ensembles and was awarded the Charles Coker Young Fine Arts Award. She earned a Master of Music degree in Music Education from Kent State University.

With a specialization in woodwind pedagogy, Professor McInturff has a variety of additional areas of expertise including in elementary music, music in special education, and teacher education. She has taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels and maintains a successful private studio in addition to serving on the music faculty of Bluefield University.

Professor McInturff’s most notable achievements are her students. Her studio has produced several all-district and all-state participants. Students from her studio have also received college scholarships in music and graduate music school admissions. She has also served as a mentor teacher for now successful music educators.

Having grown up in the Methodist Church, Professor McInturff continues to serve God through music and finds building relationships with her students the most fulfilling part of serving at Milligan.
