Senior Minister/Pastor

First Christian Church (FCC) is a rural non-denominational church located in Middlesboro, Kentucky, which is in rural southeast Kentucky. We have not only an older congregation, but a small number of youth/children attending services as well. When you come through our doors you will be welcomed by smiling faces, many of which have been there a number of years and their family members years before them.

FCC is seeking a new Senior Minister/Pastor. We believe this person would be a Christian whose record reflects moral character, life training, and doctrinal stability that has prepared him/her to lead our church. The candidate would have a pastor’s heart, a love for people, a soul-winner’s compassion, and a record of pastoral service indicative of spiritual insight and understanding.

Responsibilities include:

• Serve as the primary spiritual leader of FCC, responsible for preparing and delivering biblically sound, Spirit-led sermons (Sundays) and Bible Studies (Wednesday evenings), and other special services from time-to-time.
• Foster spiritual growth, discipleship, and Christlike unity among members.
• Provide compassionate and humble shepherding to the congregation, including hospital visits, home visits, counseling, funerals, and weddings.
• Work with the Board (composed of Elders and Deacons) to establish long-term vision and strategic direction of the church and to attend and participate in monthly Board meetings as an ex-officio member.
• Lead, mentor, and oversee ministry leaders and volunteers, and to be receptive to being mentored.
• Encourage an environment of teamwork, accountability, and service.
• Provide oversight for church ministries such as worship, youth/children’s ministry, outreach, and community engagement.
• Participate in planning, budgeting, and organizational decision-making.
• Represent FCC within the community through involvement, service, and relationship building.
• Perform baptisms by immersion.
• Make a lasting impact in a supportive church and community.
