Children/Youth Director

Grace Christian Church is a merger of two Kingsport churches: Oakwood Forest Christian Church and Grace Covenant Church. The fellowship at Grace Christian Church is God centered and Christ led. We love to come together on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday Bible Study. We have special services throughout the year and we especially love to come together and eat. We are best of friends in the church and out of the church. We want nothing more than to be the feet and hands of Jesus to a world that needs Him.

The Grace Christian Church members are loving and compassionate people. We are a ‘serving’ church in that we contribute to missions and we also serve the community needs in a variety of ways. We donate items to Agape Women’s Services in Johnson City, Hope Haven in Kingsport, food items for various organizations, and currently we are taking up stuffed animals for the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department.

The organizations that we support know we love and care about them. Let me give an example. Every Christmas we ‘take Christmas’ to the residents of a group home in Kingsport. We ask in November for them to tell us what they would like and we shop for each resident individually. So, on that Sunday night before Christmas, we take supper to them, we sing carols, we do a craft, and they open up their Christmas presents picked out specifically for them.

As mentioned the church is located in Kingsport, TN. Kingsport could be considered an industrial town because Eastman’s home office and various plants are located here. During the summer Kingsport supports a week of fun called Fun Fest and it brings in crowds from across the region for concerts and activities. Kingsport is at the base of Bays Mountain and we have the most beautiful scenic views of mountains, lakes, and hillsides. We have parks and recreational areas that are easily accessible and beautiful to see.

Job Description:

Reports to: The minister and/or the minister’s wife

Job Status: Part-time

We have a need for a Children/Youth Director. Our specific needs with this position revolve around the following events:

1. Sunday School
2. Children’s Church
3. Sunday PM
4. Wednesday night (during the adult Bible Study)
5. Special services/activities for Easter and Christmas
6. Directing Vacation Bible School

We want to see our children/youth ministry grow, and right now we have four children and 3 pre-teens and teens. What has been exciting to us is that we have had a good number of kids from the neighborhood come for our special events like our Eggstravaganza at Easter and Vacation Bible School. We have in our church budget money for this ministry and we already have a large amount of materials for every age group.

This is a perfect job for a student because the preparation materials are all available and ready to use at the church. It truly can be a ministry that can start out small and evolve with more time and effort.
