Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2010) — Alathea, a Christian folk duo known for original music and Appalachian influences, will perform at Milligan College on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m. in Seeger Memorial Chapel.
They will return to campus on Saturday, Oct. 23, at 8 p.m. for a coffee house concert in Milligan’s McMahan Student Center. Both events are free and open to the public.
Alathea (the Greek word for “truth”) was formed in 1997 in Johnson City, Tenn. Milligan alumna Mandee Radford and Cristi Johnson still reside in the mountains of East Tennessee, where they find inspiration for their sound, instrumentation and lyrics.
The duo released its sixth full-length recording titled “Tremble” earlier this year. They have also received several honors for their music this year. In January, Alathea’s song “Hurricane” won honorable mention in the USA Songwriting Competition. One month later, Alathea was named best group/duo of 2009 at the 6th Annual International Acoustic Music Awards.
