Milligan College, Tenn. (March 23, 2011) — Erin Aubrey, a singer-songwriter and Milligan College alumna, is a finalist in the 2010/2011 International Songwriting Competition (ISC).
Aubrey’s song, “Fallin’ So Fast,” was chosen out of 15,000 entries from 115 different countries and is now in the final round of judging. Co-written by Alex Post, “Fallin’ So Fast” was featured on the 2010 album “Serendipity,” Aubrey’s collaborative album with hip-hop artist Customary.
This announcement follows the recent release of Aubrey’s first album, “All These Ours,” in October 2010. From this album, the song “Slow it Down” also achieved high recognition and made it to the ISC semi-finals.
Aubrey’s new band, based out of Nashville, is now performing live shows. Aubrey is excited to share her new music and will return to Milligan’s campus to perform on Friday, March 25, at 9 p.m. in the McMahan Student Center.
As an annual song contest, ISC offers aspiring and established songwriters the opportunity to share their music internationally and in a professional manner. ISC is among the world’s most prestigious songwriting competitions and is judged by leading music industry professionals as well as musicians including Kings of Leon, Kelly Clarkson, Ben Folds, Michael W. Smith and Regina Spektor.
The ISC will award 66 individuals with cash and prizes. The overall grand prize is $25,000. More importantly, the songwriting competition will aid musicians in their musical endeavors as they gain recognition and exposure to the music industry.
Born and raised in the hills of East Tennessee, Aubrey is a singer-songwriter whose style is often reminiscent of the bluesy ballads of the ’30s and ’40s. Her alluring voice, unique chord progressions and honest lyrics create a one-of-a-kind sound. The popularity of her first album brought about an invitation for Aubrey to return to the same production company, Area 52 Productions, in Nashville to work on her sophomore album.
