MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Nov. 14, 2012) — The glorious sounds and sights of the season will be a beautiful start to the Christmas festivities as the Milligan music department presents its annual Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m., in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium of Milligan’s Seeger Memorial Chapel.
The concert is free and open to the public, but a $5 donation is suggested. All donations will benefit the Southern Appalachian Ronald McDonald House in Johnson City, Tenn. The Ronald McDonald House provides a temporary home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children throughout the Southern Appalachian region.
The performance will feature choirs, orchestra, brass choir and the organ in the beautifully decorated Seeger Chapel. The evening also will include a carol sing-along and will conclude with a moving candle-lighting and singing of “Silent Night.”
“The community looks forward to this concert every year,” said Dr. Kellie Brown, chair of Milligan’s music area. “It’s a rare chance for our choirs and instrumentalists to perform together and share the familiar and sacred sounds of the season. It’s also a way to give back to important organizations that help our community. This year, we are pleased that the generosity of our audience will help the Ronald McDonald House.”
The doors to Seeger Chapel will open at 7 p.m. For additional information contact the Milligan music office at 423.461.8723 or music@milligan.edu.
