MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (October 9, 2009) – Terence Gadsden, a Chicago youth minister known for creating worship experiences that minister to a hip-hop generation, will speak at Milligan College’s chapel service on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. in Seeger Memorial Chapel.
Gadsden, a Milligan alumnus, is a youth minister atLawndale Community Church in Chicago. His sermon, titled “Resurrection in the Community,” will continue a semester-long series in Milligan’s spiritual formation program focusing on the resurrection.
After graduating from Milligan, Gadsden helped start a new church called The House for youth on the west side of Chicago. The bimonthly service attracts 500 youth and young adults and has been featured on TV stations such as Chicago-based PBS and WGN because of its appeal to the youth community.
“We want to present the gospel of Christ in a real, practical and relational way in order to transform lives,” Gadsden said. “We try to be biblically accurate but culturally relevant.”
The Oct. 15 service is Gadsden’s second visit to Milligan this year. In January, he led a chapel service, which students called “refreshingly different” and “uplifting.”
“Gadsden showed how God is using people in the hip-hop culture,” said Nathan Flora, Milligan campus minister.
