MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (October 20, 2009) – Shawn Lantz, the author of “Congo Vignettes” and founder of Esengo Ministries, will speak at Milligan College’s convocation service on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. in Seeger Memorial Chapel.
A former missionary child, Lantz moved to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa, when she was 10 and lived there for eight years. In Africa, God awakened Lantz to the reality of His presence and inspired “Congo Vignettes.” She has also written “Living with Unmet Desires,” an in-depth Bible study about the life of King Saul.
Lantz began Esengo Ministries because of her passion to share God’s joy with others. In Lingala, the national language of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the word “esengo” means “joy.”
“Shawn Lantz grew up a missionary kid and is still a missionary wherever she goes,” said Ted Holmes, minister of missions at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Nashville, Tenn. “As a result of her calling, she has influenced many others to be missionaries in their local communities, as well as around the world.”
