Summer camps held at Milligan College


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 19, 2004) — Local teens and children are invited to participate in the variety of camps offered at Milligan College this summer, including arts camps, basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball and tennis camps.

The Summer Arts Camp is scheduled for children age seven to 12 from June 7-11. The day camp will explore the fun of art, drama, literature, creative movement and music. Campers will also be able to enjoy afternoon swimming. The camp is directed by Carlene Eastridge of Eastridge Academy of Music. She has taught in the Summer Arts Camp program at Milligan College for eight years. Small group instruction for the children’s camp is child-centered and focused on the appropriate developmental level of the children.

Basketball camps for a variety of ages will take place throughout the months of June and July. Two offense camps for girls will be held June 7-10. First grade through fourth grade girls’ camp is in the morning, and the camp for girls from the fifth to the eighth grade is in the afternoon. For boys and girls ages eight to 14, there will be an instruction camp July 19-23 and a shooting and ball handling camp July 26-28. Milligan College’s Soccer Academy Camp, June 7-11, for ages five to 18 will give instruction on finishing, goalkeeping, ball control, distribution, preparation touch, winning the ball, possession and transition, and beating the defender. Softball hitting and pitching clinics will be held in the months of June and July. For beginners ages nine to 12 , there will be a pitching clinic from June 8-10 and a basic hitting clinic July 13-14. An intermediate pitching clinic for ages 12 and older will be held June 15-17. An advanced pitching clinic for ages 14 and above will run June 22-24. An advanced hitting clinic for ages 13 and above is scheduled for July 15-16.
