MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Nov. 16, 2010) — The glorious sounds and sights of the season will be a beautiful start to the Christmas festivities as the Milligan music department presents its annual Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m., in Milligan’s Seeger Memorial Chapel.
The concert is free and open to the public, but a $5 donation is suggested. All donations will benefit The Salvation Army, an international organization whose mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in his name without discrimination.
The performance will feature choirs, orchestra, brass choir and the organ in the beautifully decorated Seeger Chapel. The evening will also include a carol sing-along and will conclude with a moving candle-lighting and singing of “Silent Night.”
“The community looks forward to this concert every year,” said Dr. Kellie Brown, associate professor of music at Milligan. “It’s a rare chance for our choirs and instrumentalists to perform together and share the familiar and sacred sounds of the season. It’s also a way to give back to important organizations that help our community. This year, we are pleased that the generosity of our audience will help The Salvation Army.”
The doors to Seeger Chapel will open at 7 p.m. For additional information contact the Milligan Music Office at 423.461.8723 ormusic@milligan.edu.
