MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Nov. 23, 2010) — Dr. E. LeRoy Lawson, the international consultant for CMF International, will speak at Milligan College on Thursday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. in Seeger Memorial Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.
CMF International (CMFI) is a missionary organization associated with the Christian churches/churches of Christ. The organization leads cross-cultural ministries in 18 countries.
In addition to his work with CMFI, Lawson served as president of Hope International University in Fullerton, Calif., from 1990 to 2003, and as the senior minister of Central Christian Church in Mesa, Ariz., from 1979 to 1999. Under Lawson’s leadership, the congregation grew from an average attendance of 490 to approximately 4,500.
Lawson was also a member of Milligan’s faculty from 1965 to 1973, serving as a professor of English, director of the humanities program and vice president. He was one of the founders of Milligan’s humanities program and was invited to return to campus this fall to teach humanities 40 years after the program’s inauguration.
