MILLIGAN UNIVERSITY, Tenn. (Feb. 28, 2022) — Dr. Lee Magness and son Ethan Magness will present at Milligan’s annual Webb Lecture Series Tuesday, March 1, and Thursday, March 3, at 11 a.m. in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium located in Seeger Chapel. The lectures are free and open to the public.
On Tuesday, Ethan Magness will speak about “Believing in Unity: The Story of an Unlikely Merger.” On Thursday, Dr. Lee Magness will speak on “Bible Translation: A Window on the Restoration Movement.”
Milligan’s Webb Lecture Series is named for the late Dr. Henry and Emerald Webb. Webb served as a professor of Bible at Milligan for more than 40 years.
“These lectures are part of Milligan’s active relationship with the Stone-Campbell Movement and our commitment to that heritage,” said Kit Dotson, director of church relations. “The Webb Lectures are a highlight for our region’s Christian churches and Churches of Christ every year. We are grateful to the Webb family for their insight and generosity in making this lecture series possible.”
Dr. Lee Magness graduated from Milligan in 1969. He has taught New Testament and Greek at Mountain Mission School, Boise Bible College, Atlanta Christian College (Point University), and for 30 years at Milligan and Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan.
Ethan Magness holds an M.Div. from Emmanuel Christian Seminary and a bachelor’s in mathematics and religion from Swarthmore College. He currently serves as the senior minister at First Christian Church in Johnson City. He holds extensive experience in ministerial training as the founder and director of Mountain’s Semester in Ministry program in partnership with Milligan University, where he also served as an adjunct professor.
