MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Dec. 3, 2010) — Doug Priest, executive director of Christian Missionary Fellowship (CMF), will be the keynote speaker at Milligan College’s commencement ceremony on Friday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. in Seeger Memorial Chapel.
Milligan will award 124 degrees at the ceremony. The December graduates include 12 bachelor of arts (B.A.), 35 bachelor of science (B.S.), 15 master of business administration (M.B.A.), 35 master of education (M.Ed.), and 27 master of occupational therapy (M.S.O.T) students.
CMF is comprised of a team of missionaries doing cross-cultural ministries in 18 countries, a board of directors, a U.S. leadership team, and churches and individuals who provide support. Priest, who grew up on the missionary field in Ethiopia, has served as CMF’s executive director since 1995.
Prior to that role, he and his wife and children served as CMF field missionaries in Kenya and Tanzania. He then worked as CMF’s Asia coordinator, living in Singapore.
Priest completed his undergraduate work at Northwest Christian College and the University of Oregon. He has a master’s degree in missiology and a Ph.D. in intercultural studies from the School of World Mission, which is now part of Fuller Theological Seminary’s School of International Studies. He has authored “Doing Theology with the Maasai” and has edited three missions books.
Doug and his wife Robyn live in Indianapolis, Ind., and serve with Outlook Christian Church. They have two daughters.
As part of the ceremony, Milligan President Donald Jeanes will also confer an honorary doctorate degree upon Naomi Dennison Kouns. Kouns worked for CMF for 34 years. She served as the director of Services and Church Relations and then was instrumental in establishing the Globalscope Campus Ministry.
