MILLIGAN, Tenn. (April 22, 2021) — Milligan University will present the 2021 Juried Art Exhibition on Friday, April 23, through Saturday, June 15. The exhibit will launch online in the Milligan Virtual Art Gallery and is free and open to the public.
The annual Juried Art Exhibition showcases the skills and talents of Milligan’s digital media, photography, fine arts and graphic design students. The university selects a juror each year to hand pick the pieces to be displayed in the exhibit.
This year’s juror is Donna M. Wilt, assistant professor of studio art at Northeast State Community College. Wilt earned her bachelor’s degree in studio art with an emphasis in printmaking from Georgia College State University and her MFA in Drawing from East Tennessee State University. Her figurative artwork has been exhibited regionally, nationally and internationally, and several works of art are displayed in public and private collections.
“It’s always exciting to see which student works are selected by the juror for the exhibit, which students win top honors, and how the awards of merit and excellence will be given to standout pieces,” said Art Brown, associate professor of communications. “This year’s virtual gallery format is very different but just as exciting. The students’ art and design work looks amazing inside of the virtual exhibit space, and one advantage is students can easily share the gallery link with their friends and families.”
The online exhibit mimics a physical art gallery by creating a virtual room where viewers can simulate walking through the gallery to view each piece of work, or a guided tour can take viewers to each piece in the gallery. A listing of this year’s winners of Awards of Excellence and Awards of Merit will be posted inside of the virtual exhibit.
