MILLIGAN UNIVERSITY, Tenn. (Jan. 27, 2021) — Milligan University will host an immigration forum on Feb. 4 and 8, featuring immigration advocate Rev. Joel Tooley of Melbourne, Florida.
The forum, “Thinking Biblically About Immigration,” aims to provide a space for students and faculty to understand immigration issues in the United States and consider how best to serve immigrant communities.
Tooley will speak in a virtual chapel service on Thursday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m., streamed on the university’s YouTube and Facebook accounts. A campus conversation event on Monday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. will feature a panel of students and faculty.
Tooley serves as the executive director of Mosaic Compassion, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing care and support for vulnerable populations through education, advocacy and awareness, and community development. He also works as a consultant with the National Immigration Forum and is a member of the Evangelical Immigration Table. He is the lead pastor of First Church of the Nazarene in Melbourne, Florida, and holds a master’s in intercultural studies from Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City.
Tooley and his family have served as missionaries in Costa Rica, Central America, and Mexico.
