MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (July 8, 2003)-Milligan College academic dean Mark Matson announced three new professors who have joined the college’s faculty: Charles Horvath, Beverly Schmalzried and Jeff Snodgrass.
Charles Horvath joins Milligan as assistant professor of business administration. Horvath will teach management courses in the undergraduate and the master of business administration programs. He holds a doctorate degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts and a master of divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Horvath joins Milligan from Beaver Falls, Pa., where he had extensive experience in a variety of collegiate settings.
Beverly Schmalzried joins Milligan as area chair and professor of education. Schmalzried will teach early childhood education courses and oversee the college’s education program. She formerly served as family policy administrator for the Air Force, where she directed all the programs for children and youth at a various bases around the world. Through her leadership, the Air Force’s early childhood education programs earned congressional accolades.
Schmalzried also previously taught at the University of Wisconsin – Stout and Kansas State University. She holds an M.S. in family and child development from Kansas State University and a Ph.D. in child development from Florida State University. Milligan’s education area includes undergraduate teacher education programs in early childhood, middle grades, secondary and select K-12 specialty fields. The college also offers a Master of Education program at both the initial licensure and advanced levels.
Jeff Snodgrass has been named assistant professor and admissions coordinator of occupational therapy. Snodgrass holds a bachelor of science in occupational therapy from Eastern Kentucky University and a master of public health degree with a concentration in health administration from East Tennessee State University. He is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in health sciences with a specialization in health care administration at Touro University.
Snodgrass, a Board Certified Disability Analyst and a Fellow of the American College of Disability Analysts, holds clinical specialty certifications as a Certified Work Capacity Evaluator and Certified Ergonomic Evaluation Specialist. He maintains active membership status with the Tennessee Occupational Therapy Association, American College of Healthcare Executives, Mountain Empire Case Management Society and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. In addition to his position at Milligan College, Snodgrass maintains an active clinical practice as an independent contractor performing functional capacity evaluations and ergonomic-related services. He previously served as clinical manager of ergonomics for Wellmont Health System.
