‘Around the World in 80 Days’


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Oct. 2, 2018) — The Milligan College theatre will perform Mark Brown’s adaptation of “Around the World in 80 Days” on Oct. 25-27 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 28 at 2:30 p.m. in the college’s McGlothlin-Street Theatre located in the Gregory Center. All seats are $5 and tickets are on sale now at the Milligan Bookstore, 423-461-8733.

The play follows the fearless adventurer, Phileas Fogg, and his faithful attendant as they race around the world in an unheard of 80 days. Danger, romance and comic surprises abound in Mark Brown’s new adaptation of one of the great adventures of all time.

“The audience will be on the edge of their seats as the stage comes to life with stampeding elephants, raging typhoons and runaway trains, “ said the show’s director, Richard Major, professor of theatre. “Phileas Fogg’s journey around the world is a wonderful crowd-pleaser for audiences of all ages.”

Senior Joshua Bullen, of Abingdon, Virginia, will star as Phileas Fogg. Freshman Margaret Siglin, Kingsport, Tennessee, will play Passepartout; junior Sierra Frosley, of Erwin, Tennessee, was cast as Aouda; and junior Meaghan Rodgers, Johnson City, Tennessee, will play Detective Fix. Ensemble characters will be performed by senior Bradley Harvey, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; freshman Samuel Kelly, Johnson City, Tennessee; junior Colby McKeehan, Johnson City, Tennessee; and sophomore Sam Musgrave, of Bristol, Virginia. The four ensemble members collectively play 39 characters.

Carrie Klofach, assistant professor of musical theatre, will serve as the show’s assistant director. Tess Evans-Shell will operate as the technical director and artistic designer, and graduate student, Erin Isley, will serve as the costume director.
