Dr. David Hampton, PhD, PE, ThM, joined the Milligan faculty from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he taught mechanical engineering for over 16 years. He served for several years as an officer in the U.S. Navy Submarine Force and completed summer research fellowships with various NASA centers, the Harry Diamond Army Research Lab, and Cambridge University in the UK. He holds engineering degrees from the U.S. Naval Academy and the University of Virginia, and a master’s in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. At the Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific, Dr. Hampton served as a department head for about 50 navy instructors and then as the curriculum and instructional standards officer. He is a member of several professional engineering organizations and the American Society of Engineering Education. He is well-experienced with both the curriculum and the curriculum objectives required for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Dr. Hampton has been teaching mechanical engineering at Milligan since the fall of 2017.
