MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (March 24, 2017) — Students interested in studying counseling can be a Milligan College “Student for a Night” and experience the college’s graduate counseling program on Monday, April 24, 6:30-9 p.m. Students will meet in Hardin Hall, room 103.
Prospective students will have the opportunity to connect with current students, tour the counseling center and sit in on a counseling class, “Child and Adult Psychopathology,” taught by Dr. John-Paul Abner, Milligan’s professor of psychology. Abner has a master’s and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Florida. In addition, he is a licensed clinical psychologist and a certified Parent Child Interaction Therapy Master Trainer for PCIT International. He is involved in PCIT dissemination efforts nationwide.
“Our ‘Student for a Night’ events are the perfect opportunities for anyone to experience first-hand what it’s like to be a graduate student at Milligan,” said Jennifer Duran, admissions recruiter for healthcare programs. “Students will be able to interact with and experience the quality of a Milligan master teacher, like Dr. Abner, while also meeting other current students in the program.”
The Master of Science in Counseling (M.S.C.) program offers concentrations in clinical mental health counseling and school counseling. In addition, a certificate of graduate study in counseling ministry is available, which introduces students to basic knowledge about both secular and Christian perspectives on counseling and how these may be applied in a church-based setting.
