MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Dec. 17, 2015) — Milligan College has been recognized as a “best value” among colleges and universities in Tennessee and nationwide.
Milligan was ranked No. 3 among the “50 Best Value Christian Colleges and Universities” in the nation for 2016, according to Christian Universities Online (CUO), an independent online resource for prospective students and their families researching Christian higher education.
According to their website, the ranked institutions “excel at combining a high quality education experience while keeping the net price of their tuition very reasonable.”
The site also ranked Milligan as No. 23 on its list of the top “50 Christian Colleges and Universities with the Lowest Debt Burden” for 2016.
In addition, the college ranked No. 13 on a list of the top 20 “Best Value College Universities in Tennessee” for 2015 by BestValueSchools.com, which looked at graduation rate, net price, acceptance rate and the 20-year net return on investment.
“These rankings are a testament to Milligan’s efforts to be among the best and most affordable colleges,” said Milligan President Dr. Bill Greer. “The college’s faculty and staff promote our core values of scholarship, community and faith, and they work with our students every day to help them succeed in their future careers and in life.”
The total cost of a Milligan education is $7,400 below the national average for private colleges. Additionally, Milligan students’ average federal loan debt at graduation is $3,000 below the national average.
Nearly 100 percent of Milligan graduates are employed or in graduate school within one year of earning their degree. The college’s retention and graduation rates also are well above other private colleges and state universities. Retention at Milligan is 25 percent higher than other local schools.
The Christian Universities Online “best value” ranking was built using publicly available data from their “Best Christian College and Universities” and “50 Most Affordable Christian Colleges and Universities” lists. The “lowest debt burden” ranking was constructed from the average total indebtedness of the 2014 graduating class using publicly available data at U.S. News & World Report. These recognitions join other national rankings given this year, such as U.S. News & World Report and Washington Monthly, including other rankings from Christian Universities Online, which have all lauded Milligan for its high quality academics, as well as affordability and value.
