MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Jan. 13, 2011) — Nationally acclaimed speaker and author Jan Silvious and worship leader Gina Sayler will provide a day of spiritual renewal and study for women at the annual Eleanore L. Campbell Ladies Conference on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Milligan College.
Hosted by Associated Ladies for Milligan (ALM), the conference for women, titled “Same Life, New Song,” will be held on the Milligan campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“This is a day for women of all ages to gather together to be spiritually fed and recharged with biblical teaching, uplifting music and fellowship with other women from throughout the region,” said Clarinda Jeanes, Milligan’s first lady and founding president of ALM. “We look forward to the annual ladies conference and are very excited to bring Jan Silvious to Milligan for this year’s event.”
Known for her biblically sound and psychologically positive answers to women’s challenges, Silvious is the author of 10 books, including “Big Girls Don’t Whine” and “Fool-Proofing Your Life.” She also co-hosted a call-in radio show for five years with Kay Arthur and continues to be a frequent guest on Moody Broadcasting’s “Midday Connection,” as well as other national call-in and interview shows.
For eight years, Silvious has been a featured speaker at Women of Faith arena events and pre-conferences. She also served as plenary speaker for Precept Ministries’ Women’s Convention, Moody’s Women’s Conferences, and Balancing the Demands of Life Women’s Conferences. She has spent 20 years reaching out to women, helping them to think biblically, reason clearly, live fully and embrace an intelligent attitude toward life. Her experience, no-nonsense attitude and captivating humor continue to motivate audiences around the globe.
Dr. Charlene Thomas, adjunct instructor of humanities at Milligan, has used Silvious’s book and video series, “Fool-proofing Your Life,” to teach various church and community audiences. She is looking forward to the opportunity to hear Silvious in person at the Feb. 19 conference.
“Jan Silvious has a great sense of humor, and she is an articulate storyteller,” Thomas said. “However, as someone who has counseled women, she knows the seriousness of our problems and takes us to Scripture to find solutions. I think she will speak to the heart of everyone who attends.
“She will challenge us to think about our faith, our lives, our behaviors and our thoughts. She will take us to the Word, and then she will encourage us to take what we have learned and use it for the glory of God. I am excited that she is coming to Milligan College.”
Registration for the conference is $30 per person before Feb. 1, and $35 after Feb. 1. Student registration is $20, if received by Feb. 1. A box lunch will be provided. To register or learn more, visit www.milligan.edu/ALM or call 423.461.8710.
