MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN ( March 18, 2008 ) — Milligan College will present the Henry and Emerald Webb Lecture Series, “Jesus — The One and Only,” on Tuesday, April 1, and Thursday, April 3, at 11 a.m. in Seeger Memorial Chapel on the Milligan campus. Rick Atchley, senior minister at Richland Hills Church of Christ near Fort Worth, Texas, and Bob Russell, retired minister of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Ky., will be this year’s keynote speakers.
Atchley has served as senior minister for Richland Hills Church since 1989. He has authored numerous articles for Christian journals and magazines and has published three books, “Sinai Summit: Meeting God With Our Character Crisis,” “ Back to the Father: Crossing the Bridge of Forgiveness Without Burning it Behind You” and “ What Men Need to Hear.”
Russell served as pastor of Southeast Christian Church until his retirement in 2006. During his tenure the congregation grew from 120 members to a megachurch with 18,000 attendees and four worship services each weekend. Since his retirement, Russell continues to speak to churches, church leaders and at civic events. An accomplished author, Russell has written over one-dozen books. He also has a weekly column in “The Lookout,” a magazine printed by Standard Publishing.
Atchley will present “Jesus – The Unique Son of God” on Tuesday, April 1, and Russell will present “Jesus – The Only Way to Heaven” on Thursday, April 3. Both lectures are free and open to the public.
The Webb Lecture Series were inaugurated in 2003 and named in honor of Dr. and Mrs. Henry Webb. Dr. Webb is professor emeritus of church history at Milligan College and one of the leading Restoration Movement church historians.
