MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Nov. 8, 2011) — Lucas Schmidt, a Milligan College music student from Jonesborough, Tenn., will present his senior piano recital on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Milligan’s Mary B. Martin Auditorium of Seeger Memorial Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.
The program will feature piano works of Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Debussy, Ravel and Hovhaness. A reception will follow the performance.
The son of Mike and Jennifer Schmidt, Lucas was the recipient of Milligan’s 2011 Outstanding Music Student award scholarship. In addition to his piano studies at Milligan, he is a keyboardist in Milligan’s jazz combo and pep band. He is also a percussionist for the jazz ensemble and brass choir, as well as the Milligan orchestra. He is a member of Milligan’s Heard Mentality, a male vocal a cappella quartet. As a pianist, he has collaborated with various soloists and ensembles in music department recitals.
