MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Nov. 10, 2011) — Dr. E. LeRoy Lawson will return to the Milligan College campus to speak on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. in the Mary. B. Martin Auditorium of Seeger Memorial Chapel. This event is part of Milligan’s Leadership Series and is free and open to the public.
Lawson will speak on the topic of “Trust in Leadership,” based on text from Matthew 25:14-30, the parable of the talents. This is the second lecture in the college’s Leadership Series, which began Nov. 8.
“In our society, we see the need for trust in leadership in businesses, government, churches and schools,” said Brad Wallace, Milligan’s campus minister. “Dr. Lawson is a well-respected, trusted leader, and as we prepare our students to be servant leaders, we hope his message will teach and encourage us all to serve using the words and actions of Jesus as a model.”
A former Milligan faculty member, Lawson is currently a member of Milligan’s board of trustees. He will join the Emmanuel Christian Seminary faculty as professor of Christian ministries in January 2012.
Previously, Lawson served for 13 years as president of Hope International University in Fullerton, Calif. Since 2004, Lawson has also served as the international consultant for Christian Missionary Fellowship International (CMFI), a missionary organization that leads cross cultural ministries in 18 countries; and as an adjunct instructor and guest lecturer at 20 Stone-Campbell Movement colleges and universities.
Lawson has authored 29 books and is a regular contributor to The Lookout and The Christian Standard magazines. He has served on the board of directors for CMFI, the Standard Publishing Committee, Milligan and Provision Ministries. He also served as the speaker of “The Christians’ Hour” national radio program for five years during the 1990s.
The Milligan Leadership Series will continue on Tuesday, Nov. 22, with Joseph Jarret, a Christian attorney and the law director of Knox County, Tenn. He will speak about leadership in the public sector.
