Kirk English
Associate Professor of Exercise Science
Dr. English is an Associate Professor of Exercise Science, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses. He also serves as a sport scientist in support of Milligan athletics.
Dr. English worked for 13 years as an exercise physiologist and senior scientist at NASA-Johnson Space Center testing astronauts pre- and post-flight. He also conducted research to develop exercise countermeasures to the negative physiologic effects of spaceflight. Dr. English co-authored the first textbook on evidence-based practice in the field of exercise science.
His research focuses on aerospace physiology and exercise countermeasures to microgravity; aging, nutrition, and metabolism; applied sport science; and evidence-based practice in the field of exercise science.
At Milligan, Dr. English enjoys working at a faith-based and sport-centric institution where there is a palatable sense of community.
