Dr. Noah DeLong is a Professor of Music at Milligan University, where he directs the Concert Choir and leads the a cappella group, Heritage. He teaches a variety of courses, including applied voice, aural skills, advanced conducting, and secondary music methods. As a conductor, Dr. DeLong is passionate about helping students develop their musical abilities in both individual and ensemble settings, cultivating their gifts for the glory of God.
Dr. DeLong’s academic expertise is in choral conducting and rehearsal strategies. He has had the privilege of conducting the Milligan Concert Choir on six national tours, traveling to the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Southeast regions of the United States. He also led the choir and orchestra in the 2016 U.S. premiere of Cecilia McDowall’s Stabat Mater. His research interests include the intersection of music, technology, and Christian faith. He has published work on the life and choral music of the Italian American composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, including a transcription of his previously unpublished oratorio, The Book of Ruth.
Along with his academic endeavors, Dr. DeLong loves working alongside students and colleagues in the annual Milligan Christmas Concerts. One of his most cherished moments is performing “Night of Silence,” surrounded by a thousand candlelit faces, as a powerful reminder of the beauty and unity of music and worship.
