Tara Cosco
Associate Professor of Education
Dr. Tara Cosco is an Associate Professor of Education at Milligan University, where she teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in education. She also supervises student teachers and interns, providing mentorship and guidance as they gain practical experience in the field. Dr. Cosco’s main research interests focus on best practices in special education and general education.
Dr. Cosco is an accomplished scholar and has recently co-authored a book with Dr. Matthias on best practices in education, set for publication in December 2024. She has also contributed to several notable publications, including Teacher Advocate (2022) and the KDP Blog (2020), where she shared her perspective on the impact of Covid-19 on teaching. Additionally, her article “Cool Technology Tools” was published in New Teacher Advocate (2019).
Faith is an integral part of Dr. Cosco’s life, and she is grateful for the opportunity to share her spirituality with students and colleagues at Milligan. She attends Grace Fellowship Church in Johnson City, TN, and enjoys being part of a community that shares similar values. Dr. Cosco considers the relationships and sense of shared mission at Milligan to be the best part of her role.

Dr. Cosco holds various educational licenses, including Elementary Education K-5, Interventionist K-8, Interventionist 6-12, and Instructional Leader. She began her career teaching elementary special education and has experience teaching in both private and public schools, as well as in higher education.
