MILLIGAN, Tenn. (May 27, 2026) — This week, Milligan University broke ground on the renovation of one of the most recognizable dormitories on campus, Webb Hall. Originally built in 1959, Webb Hall has served as the campus’s primary men’s residence hall, housing thousands of students since its inception.
Over the next year, Webb Hall will undergo a comprehensive renovation. This $15 million project will include complete interior renovations, updated infrastructure, improved accessibility and enhanced suite-style living spaces.
“This opportunity allows us to reimagine how this space can best serve the next generation of Milligan students,” said Milligan President Dr. Stephen Waers. “Our students have always been the top priority, and as we look toward the future, this project ensures that Webb Hall continues to be a place where students belong, grow and find community.”
The renovation of Webb Hall follows various campus enhancements completed last year, including improvements to Sutton Hall, another campus residence hall; the Fireside Grill in the McMahan Student Center; the Little Hartland Welcome Center; and the lower level of Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. These projects are part of Milligan’s ongoing “Infrastructure for Excellence” initiative, which continues this summer with several upcoming campus investments, including major upgrades to campus safety and security systems, updates to Milligan’s digital systems, and the construction of the Ballad Health Simulation Lab for Milligan’s health sciences programs.
“Milligan is in a season where we are investing heavily in our physical and digital infrastructure on campus,” said Waers. “We are thankful for our donors and partners who allow us to not only restore a beloved building on our campus but also create a residence hall which matches the quality, warmth and character of Milligan itself.”
During the next year of renovations to Webb Hall, Milligan’s remaining residence halls will be reconfigured with an emphasis on maintaining comfort and community. Upper-class students will have additional opportunities to embrace independence through various off-campus living options.
