MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 31, 2026) — It is a Wonderful Wednesday for students at Milligan University. Today, the university celebrates its most beloved student tradition with this year’s theme, “It’s Milligan, Baby!”: a nod to the excitement of racing culture and the university’s proximity to Bristol Motor Speedway.
Each year, this surprise holiday gives students an opportunity to step away from their academic routines, recharge and celebrate together as a campus community before the final stretch of the semester.
“The Milligan tradition of Wonderful Wednesday is one of the most anticipated days of the year,” said Juan Villalba, director of campus activities. “This year’s theme, ‘It’s Milligan, Baby!,’ brings a fast-paced, high-energy atmosphere to campus. Our team has worked hard to create an experience that captures the thrill of race day while celebrating the spirit and community that makes Milligan so special.”
Classes for traditional undergraduate students are canceled for the day, and a variety of outdoor activities and events are planned across campus.
A veil of secrecy and suspense surrounds the exact date and theme of the annual celebration. While Milligan has observed Wonderful Wednesday every year since 1969, the tradition does not always fall on a Wednesday.
Milligan’s Campus Activities Board organizes the day’s events, offering a full schedule of activities designed to engage students and foster community throughout the day.
Today’s activities include:
- A dodgeball tournament
- Inflatables
- A water slide
- Food Trucks
- Volleyball
- A bonfire and s’mores
- A fireworks show
