MILLIGAN, Tenn. (April 10, 2025) – Milligan University has awarded its most prestigious academic scholarship, the Jeanes Honors Scholarship, to incoming freshman Charlotte Willard of Johnson City, Tennessee.

Named in memory of former Milligan President Dr. Donald Jeanes, the Jeanes Honors Scholarship is a full-tuition, merit-based academic award that is part of the Milligan Honors Program. Jeanes Scholars are selected for their outstanding academic ability, commitment to scholarly pursuits, sincere Christian faith and their service to others.

“Our Jeanes Scholars serve as the face of Milligan’s Honors Program during their four years,” said Dr. Michael Blouin, director of the Honors Program and associate professor of English and humanities. “Our Honors Program offers an intentional community for motivated students seeking to reach their highest potential. Members of this program challenge one another to excel both inside the classroom and as servant-leaders on a world stage.”

While Willard spent most of her life in Murrieta, California, her family moved to Johnson City three years ago, and Willard quickly fell in love with East Tennessee. She is a homeschool student, plays the cello, is a dancer and enjoys being social. She is the daughter of Matt and Kimberly Willard.

“I chose Milligan because I love the campus, atmosphere and people I’ve met,” said Willard. “The students I know who attend Milligan speak very highly of their professors, and I am excited to learn from professors who are invested in my education.”

At Milligan, Willard plans to major in biology with the goal of pursuing Milligan’s Master of Physician Assistant Studies program after college. She is excited about the many ways to get involved on campus and looks forward to meeting new people.
