MILLIGAN, Tenn. (April 5, 2024) — Milligan University Libraries will host its 14th Edible Books Festival on Monday, April 8, and Tuesday, April 9, in the P.H. Welshimer Memorial Library. Each year, the Milligan community creates deliciously creative entries based on book titles or book covers. This event is free and open to the public.
“The Edible Books Festival is one of the most beloved traditions of Milligan’s libraries,” said Mary Jackson, research and instruction librarian. “We love to encourage the creative and fun side of the Milligan community in a bookish way. Every year, I am amazed and delighted by the entries.”
Contestants may drop off their entries in the Welshimer Room of the library on April 8 by 10 a.m. The public is invited to view and vote on the entries from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. The Milligan community votes on favorite entries within the categories of funniest or punniest, most creative, and overall favorite. Then library staff votes for the tastiest.
On April 9, the library staff will announce the winners and award prizes.
The International Edible Books Festival is held annually around the globe in April. More than 20 countries have participated in the event, which is often shared on the internet through websites and social media.
