MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 7, 2024) — The Milligan University Concert Choir and a cappella ensemble, Heritage, will conclude their biennial spring choir tour with a home concert titled “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go” on Sunday, March 17, at 3 p.m. in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium located in Seeger Chapel.
The concert will include a variety of songs that explore the presence of God, and many will feature student soloists and instrumentalists. Selections sung by the Concert Choir include “Do Not Be Afraid” by Philip Stopford, “A Joyful Noise” by Jacob Narverud and “O Love” by Elaine Hagenberg. In addition, Heritage will perform “What a Beautiful Name” arranged by Bryan Sharpe; “Shadows” by Debora Cahoon and “Nearer, My God, to Thee” arranged by James L. Stevens.
“This concert will highlight many talented students at Milligan, both vocalists and instrumentalists,” said Dr. Noah Delong, professor of music and conductor of the concert choir. “The theme of the program is the presence of God, and we look forward to sharing this beautiful music and hopeful message with audiences throughout the country and at home.”
This year’s spring tour will include stops in Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Kentucky.
In recent years, the choir has maintained an active performance schedule on campus and throughout Northeast Tennessee. Frequently touring throughout the United States, the choir has performed in Washington, D.C.; Florida; Chicago and the Midwest. In addition, the choir regularly collaborates with the Milligan Orchestra, the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony of the Mountains.
The concert is free and open to the public.
