MILLIGAN, Tenn. (July 28, 2023) – At the culmination of the 2022-23 academic year, Milligan University ranks No. 20 nationally across all college athletics with 29 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® selections since 2020.
Milligan’s selections have the Buffs in the company of MIT, Johns Hopkins, Stanford and the University of Tennessee. The Buffs one of six NAIA institutions, along with Cumberlands, Taylor, Concordia (NE), Oklahoma City and Missouri Baptist to appear on the ranking.
Nine Milligan teams have achieved Academic All-America selections over the past three years. Women’s track national champion Emily Kearney and men’s soccer goalkeeper Jan Kuepper both collected Academic All-America Team Member of the Year honors in 2021.
Milligan University graduates Maggie Blazo (swimming), Avery DeWolf Burton (cross country/track) and Katie Cronin (softball) are all two-time Academic All-America honorees.
CSC began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored more than 38,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite scholar-athlete honors. In 2022-23, Milligan had a school record 15 student-athletes receive Academic All-America applause.
