Milligan celebrates Black History Month


MILLIGAN UNIVERSITY, Tenn. (February 15, 2022) – Milligan joins in paying tribute to the achievements and contributions of African Americans and their central role in U.S. history.

A student panel discussion about Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at an 11 a.m. convocation.

Students and staff are invited to tour the Langston Centre on Tuesday, March 1. The Centre is a cultural facility in Johnson City that promotes multicultural awareness and workforce development through arts, education and leadership activities.

Students and employees are also invited to attend a series of discussions held each Wednesday at the Langston Centre.

As part of this year’s Black History Month theme, “Black Health and Wellness,” Milligan is posting social media highlights of African American alumni serving in healthcare and wellness.

Black History Month is an annual celebration created by Harvard-trained historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month.
