MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Oct. 21, 2021) – Milligan University held a dedication ceremony today for the McMahan Student Center and a new outdoor patio following the completion of recent renovations. Located in the heart of campus, the center welcomes students with a new open concept accented by a large video wall, an upgraded bookstore and an inviting outdoor patio.
The McMahan Student Center underwent renovations beginning in the Summer of 2020, made possible by a generous donation from 3CLANE Family Foundation, Inc.
“God’s timing was perfect, as always,” stated Milligan President Dr. Bill Greer. “Having this added space all last year, when we needed the capacity to spread folks out a bit more, was a real blessing. And the space is certainly a blessing now.”
During the ceremony, Greer unveiled a plaque officially designating the new patio as “Lane’s Landing,” honoring Charles and Lane Pyke. The patio greets students and guests with ample space, attractive seating, new landscape, lighting and a fire pit.
“We are grateful for the Pyke family and their foundation for their commitment to our mission,” said Greer. “As we announce the public phase of our comprehensive campaign, On Mission: The Campaign for Milligan University, we celebrate our unwavering commitment to mission. I can think of no better way to launch this exciting effort than in celebration of a space that focuses on our students and a family whose dedication and leadership is inspiring to me and to those who love and value Milligan and its work in the world.”
The Pyke family has been supporting Milligan students since 2005. Their foundations, the 3CLANE Foundation and the Pennies from Heaven Foundation, have provided funding for the Pyke Cottage at the Emmanuel Village and the Neely Scholarship for students at Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan.
