Gregory family establishes leadership scholarship for business students

MILLIGAN UNIVERSITY (Sept. 15, 2021) – Gregory Pharmaceutical Holdings, Inc./UPM Pharmaceuticals has established a leadership scholarship for students pursuing a degree in business at Milligan University.

Milligan President Dr. Bill Greer announced the establishment of The James and April Gregory Leadership Scholarship in Business, which will support two students each year. The scholarship is specifically to benefit students of color or female students.

The scholarship honors the retirement of James Gregory from UPM Pharmaceuticals, and his wife, April, who graduated from Milligan in 2000 with a business administration degree.

“We are tremendously grateful for the longstanding support of the Gregory family to Milligan and our seminary over the years,” said Greer. “Through support of major capital construction projects, beautification efforts, and scholarship programs, they have demonstrated their strong commitment of our mission to honor God by educating men and women to be servant-leaders.”

James (Jim) Gregory served as president and chief operating officer of UPM since 2004. He previously worked for King Pharmaceuticals from 1995 to 2000 as executive vice president and general manager of their Tennessee manufacturing facility. Gregory served from 1982 to 1995 as a senior administrator in the court systems of Phoenix, Arizona, and Washington, D.C. He was deputy executive officer in charge of business operations of the District of Columbia Court System from 1990 to 1995. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and a master’s in public administration from American University.

The Gregory family’s impact on the Milligan campus can be seen in the Elizabeth Leitner Gregory Center for the Liberal Arts; the beautification of campus with the Mary Sword Commons; and the establishment of the Gregory Scholarship for Women in honor of their mother, Mary Gregory Jarvis, who attended Milligan in the early 1940s.
