MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Nov. 5, 2018) – The Airmen of Note, the premier jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force, will perform on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Milligan’s Mary B. Martin Auditorium located in Seeger Chapel.
The Airmen of Note is one of six musical ensembles that comprise the U.S. Air Force Band. Created in 1950, it is one of the oldest military jazz bands and it continues the tradition of Major Glenn Miller’s Army Air Forces Band. The current band consists of 18 active duty musicians and includes one vocalist.
The concert will feature the Airmen of Note’s own brand of big band jazz, as well as contemporary forms of jazz. New music from the Airmen of Note’s upcoming album will be performed, and these selections will focus on international music to honor Great Britain’s and Finland’s Air Forces, which formed 100 years ago.
This concert will honor local veterans, celebrate the legacy of the Air Force and praise the history of jazz music.
This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are required and are available free of charge at www.eventbrite.com.
