KINGSPORT, Tenn. (February 23, 2017) – Milligan College’s Concert Choir will join Symphony of the Mountains, along with area choirs, for the symphony’s season finale performance, “Twist of Faith,” Saturday, April 7, 7:30 p.m. at the Toy F. Reid Eastman Employee Center in Kingsport, Tennessee. The event is free for students and children. Tickets are $30.
Featured selections include “Fugue a la Gigue BWV577,” by J.S. Bach and arranged by Gustav Holst; “Symphony No. 5” (Reformation), by Felix Mendelssohn; and “Requiem for the Living,” by Dan Forrest.
Symphony of the Mountains also will be joined by Voices of the Mountains, East Tennessee State University Chorale and the Highlands Youth Ensemble to perform “Requiem for the Living”. At their core, requiems are prayers for rest typically reserved for funerals. “Requiem for the Living,” however, creates a twist on the traditional form to be relevant for the living and their daily struggles.
Tickets may be purchased at SymphonyoftheMountains.org, 423.392.8423. Concert tickets will be available at the door the evening of the concert.
