MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (March 30, 2017) — This summer, high school students can create a documentary short film, star in a musical theatre production, program a Raspberry Pi computer or even learn how to save a life—all at Milligan College’s Summer Camps, offered July 9-14. A $100 discount is available for registration prior to June 1.

Milligan’s uniquely-designed camps offer concentrations in photography, nursing, musical theatre, filmmaking, graphic design and, for the first time, computer science.

Students will have the opportunity to stay on the college’s beautiful campus in Northeast Tennessee, enhance their skills, learn new techniques in their field of interest and meet other college-bound students in a supportive, Christian environment.

“Milligan Summer Camps offer teens incredible opportunities to learn from the college’s experienced faculty and be mentored by Milligan student counselors, who are respected by their peers and faculty,” said Dr. Lee Harrison, vice president for marketing and enrollment management. “With new offerings in computer science, as well as theatrical design and technical production, high school students have a diverse array of academic offerings from which to choose.”

Students in the digital media camp will gain hands-on experience in the foundational elements of digital media, including digital photography, digital video filmmaking and graphic design, as well as the opportunity to showcase their work.

Musical theatre camp students will learn from Milligan’s knowledgeable music and theatre professionals how to combine singing, acting and dancing into a live musical revue—in one week. In addition, students can choose to learn about theatrical design and technical production.

In the nursing camp, students will be able to learn from Milligan’s experienced nursing faculty, develop hands-on skills used by registered nurses every day, earn their CPR certification, tour area health care agencies and more.

At computer science camp, students will learn how to program a microprocessor, gain important team building skills and create a mini super computer out of Raspberry Pi computers.

In addition to these camps, the Youth in Ministry Student Leadership Conference at Milligan will be held July 9-15 with a stellar line-up of speakers and leaders from around the country to prepare high school students to be servant leaders in their schools, communities and future careers.
