Milligan students take home ADDY awards

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (March 3, 2017) — Milligan College students earned three student ADDY awards this year at the annual American Advertising Federation Northeast Tennessee (AAFNETN) awards banquet held on Saturday, Feb. 25.

The American Advertising Awards honor the best and most creative advertising work from students and professionals in the industry. The awards are given in three levels: local, district and national. Winners in each level are qualified to compete in higher levels.

Junior Mitchell Hancock, of San Andres Cholula Puebla, Mexico, won a silver ADDY for his magazine cover in the publication design category. He is majoring in fine art/photography, minoring in graphic design and digital media.

Sophomore Gloria Vazquez, of Greeneville, Tennessee, won a gold ADDY in the poster design category. She is a graphic design major and a digital media minor. In addition, Vazquez was this year’s recipient of the local AAFNETN club’s inaugural scholarship consisting of $300 toward school supplies in the student’s field and a one-year membership to AAFNETN.

Freshman Cora Wymer, of Johnson City, Tennessee, won a silver ADDY in the package design category for her self-promotion leave-behind project. She is majoring in graphic design.

“We are so proud that our students were recognized for their high level of work,” said Art Brown, Milligan’s professor of graphic design. “We encourage our students to enter work into the competition each year because it’s a valuable experience for our students to be seen and recognized by marketing and creative professionals in our region. The success of our students further serves as a reminder about the strength of Milligan’s graphic design major and communications area.”
