MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Jan. 20, 2017) – Milligan College’s photography minors will present a showcase of their artwork on Sunday, Jan. 22, with a free reception from 2-4 p.m. in the Milligan Art Gallery located in Derthick Hall. The show will run through Jan. 27 and is free and open to the public.
The showcase will feature work by seniors Taylor Foote, of Loganville, Georgia, and Katelynn Millington, of Kingsport, Tennessee.
Millington said her exhibit, “True North,” celebrates her family’s Canadian heritage and features photographs from her recent travels to the country. The title is taken from a phrase in the Canadian national anthem.
“Being in Canada feels like a home away from home,” said Millington. “I’m excited to reveal the beauty of the country through the show.”
According to Foote, his show, “URBEX,” “highlights the abandoned world around us that typically goes unnoticed in the context of small town life.”
The college will present senior shows for art majors throughout the semester. Brittany Helms, of Kingsport, Tennessee, will present a photography show, Jan. 29-Feb. 3, and a fine arts show, April 9-14.
