MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (October 27, 2016) – Milligan College’s Riley Prickett will present her senior voice recital on Friday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the college’s Mary B. Martin Auditorium located in Seeger Chapel. This event is free and open to the public.
The recital will feature art songs by Schubert, Schönberg, Brahms, Hindemith, Fauré and Britten, along with arias from “Dido and Aeneas,” “Carmen,” “The Marriage of Figaro” and “The Barber of Seville.”
This past summer, Prickett spent six weeks studying German lieder–Romantic German poems set to music–in Graz, Austria, and learned many new pieces. “I’m excited to present these songs that some people will have never heard before,” said Prickett.
Dr. Charlotte Anderson, Prickett’s applied voice professor at Milligan, said that “Riley has tackled some sophisticated repertoire” for the recital.
“We’ve had a lot of fun making decisions together about character choices for every song,” said Anderson. “This will be a wonderful evening of beautiful singing.”
Prickett has participated in many ensembles including Concert Choir, Women’s Chorale and Heritage. Also, she received the Women’s Chorale award and the Outstanding Music Student Award in 2015.
