Milligan faculty and staff work to beautify campus

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (August 7, 2015) —Each year, Milligan College faculty and office staff leave their desks to assist physical plant staff with some final campus beautification before students arrive the following week.

The college’s annual “Campus Work Day” took place this morning. Milligan students begin moving in on Aug. 15, with classes beginning Aug. 19.

“This annual tradition allows us to come together as a community and prepare campus for students as they return to campus,” said Milligan President Dr. Bill Greer. “It also is our chance to say thank you to Milligan’s housekeeping, landscaping and physical plant staff who work to make this campus as beautiful as possible every day.”

The work day kicked off with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. in Milligan’s McCormick Dining Center located in Sutton Hall. After breakfast, employees divided into groups and completed a checklist of indoor and outdoor projects, including landscaping and cleaning.

Milligan’s library staff, along with members of the men’s soccer team, loaded over 10,000 volumes from the Emmanuel Christian Seminary library into a shipping container, which is headed to build libraries for two theology schools in Kenya: Kapsowar School of Theology and Kao La Amani Bible School.

Dr. Samuel “Kip” Elolia, professor of theology and world Christianity, has been organizing the project for several years and said that faculty from Emmanuel have been visiting the schools for the past 10 years.

The work day culminated with an employee lunch at noon.
