MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Jan. 17, 2015) — Whether you’re a “history buff,” a “sports buff,” a “science buff” or an “arts buff,” prospective students will experience what it’s like to be a Milligan College Buff at a visit day event on Saturday, Jan. 31.
Potential “music buffs” can audition on the same day for talent-based scholarships up to $20,000 in Seeger Chapel. For more info, or to schedule an audition, contact Rita Myers, music area secretary, at 423.461.8723.
Named “Be a Buff” Day in honor of Milligan’s mascot, Brutus the Buffalo, this visit day will provide high school juniors, seniors and college transfers, as well as their families, with a snapshot of campus life packed into one day.
The event includes opportunities for students to meet one-on-one with current students and faculty, tour campus and attend information sessions and break-out sessions highlighting Milligan’s more than 100 programs, pre-professional degrees and concentrations in a variety of fields.
“‘Be a Buff’ Day is a great way for prospective students to get to know the Milligan community,” said Jason Makowsky, director of admissions. “They can talk with students, faculty and staff to understand just how much care and individual attention we provide for each student.”
“Be a Buff” Day begins with check-in at 8 a.m. in the Gregory Center, followed by a welcome session at 9 a.m. Breakout sessions will allow students and their families to learn more about campus, financial aid, student life/leadership and graduate programs.
After brunch, families can meet with professors and students from their academic area of interest, learn more about graduate and professional programs, and parents can chat with other parents of current students. To wrap up the day, families will have a final opportunity to tour campus and meet with their admissions counselor to go over the next steps in the application process.
