MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Nov. 13, 2014) — Students interested in studying counseling can experience Milligan College’s graduate counseling program for one night on Thursday, Nov. 20, from 5-8 p.m. Students will meet in Hardin Hall, room 103.
Prospective students will have the opportunity to connect with current students and sit in on a counseling class with Dr. Christine Browning, associate professor of counseling and psychology. Serving as the director of Milligan’s counseling center, Browning is a licensed professional counselor, a nationally certified counselor and a psychological examiner. She has a passion for working with individuals who have experienced trauma and abuse in childhood and is a certified trauma and abuse counselor.
Following the class, students will be led through the details of the admission process.
“Students can experience first-hand what it’s like to be a counseling student at Milligan and get all of their questions answered,” said Courtney Kieslich, director of graduate and professional studies. “The experience of sitting through an actual class and interacting with Milligan’s expert faculty is invaluable for a student considering the program.”
The Master of Science in Counseling (MSC) program offers concentrations in school counseling and clinical mental health counseling. In addition, through a cooperative agreement with Emmanuel Christian Seminary, Milligan offers a certificate of graduate study in counseling ministry. This program introduces students to basic knowledge about both secular and Christian perspectives on counseling and how these may be applied in a church-based setting.
