MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 30, 2014) — Milligan College has been lauded as a top college in the Educate To Career, Inc., (ETC) 2015 College Rankings Index that measures improvements in earning power and employability of college graduates.Milligan is one of only four schools in Tennessee to rank in the top one-third.
“We feel that the colleges scoring in the top one-third of our Index are doing a very good job on behalf of their students,” said Michael R. Havis, president and founder of ETC.
The ETC College Rankings Index empirically determines the economic value added by each college ranked within the system. It calculates the improvement in earnings and employability of persons who attended specific colleges, relative to those similarly situated in other colleges.
“We are pleased to be recognized by ETC for the value we provide our graduates,” said Milligan President Dr. Bill Greer. “Milligan’s goal is not only to train the next generation of Christian servant leaders but also to prepare students for a competitive job market.”
In addition to strong job placement rates, the total cost of a Milligan education is $6,500 below the national average for private colleges, and the retention and graduation rates are well above other private colleges and state universities. Additionally, Milligan students’ average federal loan debt at graduation is $4,000 below the national average of $27,000.
“The long-term economic benefits of a Milligan degree are evident from our low student debt ratio and the fact that nearly 100 percent of our graduates are employed or in graduate school within one year of earning their degree,” said Greer.
Other national rankings have lauded Milligan for its affordability and value in recent months. In September, U.S. News & World Report’s 2015 “Best Colleges” report ranked Milligan ninth in the list of best regional colleges in the South. In addition, Milligan ranked as the No. 4 best value among regional colleges in the South in the report’s “Great Schools at Great Prices” category.
In August, Milligan ranked 23rd among the top most affordable Christian colleges and universities in the United States, according to Christian Universities Online. Milligan also ranked among the top 20 baccalaureate colleges in the nation in Washington Monthly’s 2014 College Guide, which examines what colleges are doing for their students and the public good.
