MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 8, 2014) — Milligan College alumnus Kenny Smith recently joined Milligan’s office of graduate and professional studies (GPS) as an admissions recruiter for its business programs.
Smith will recruit for Milligan’s adult degree completion program (ADCP) in business administration, the computer information systems mobile (CIS-M) major and the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.
“I’m excited about being an admissions recruiter at Milligan,” said Smith, of Louisville, Ky. “It is an opportunity to help individuals achieve their dreams and goals.”
He graduated from Milligan in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications with an emphasis in journalism.
Since he received his degree, Smith has served as a career marketing professional. He has worked in a variety of roles, including marketing, public relations, client relations and corporate communications. He has helped companies launch new products and increase positive internal and external communications and relationships.
“I am very happy to have Kenny join the GPS staff and recruit for our non-traditional business programs,” said Courtney Kieslich, director of GPS. “His experience in sales and marketing will greatly benefit this role and the college.”
In addition to his experience in marketing, Smith understands the challenges non-traditional students might face as they add college to their busy lives.
“Many adult students have a job, a family, other commitments and outside activities,” said Smith. “I understand the sacrifices and demands of having a family and going back to school, since my wife went back to school and earned her degree in occupational therapy. I am sympathetic to students due to our own experience.”
His experience with non-traditional students and his love for Milligan will help students as they work toward earning their degree.
“Kenny has a true passion for Milligan, which makes it very exciting to welcome him back as a member of our staff,” Kieslich said.
